In this new series I explore the intrinsic and symbolic nature of four materials as they interact with light, unlocking the mysteries of wood, metal, glass and plastic through composition, relationship and interaction with light. I strive to evoke a sense of something ancient that will ground us to the earth while also calling to a hopeful future when we will have solved some of today's problems, like clean air and water for everyone. The intended alchemy of these two references suggests a timeline that centers us now, in a place of possibility and responsibility. As the messages emerge, the interplay of light invites inquiry and discovery, which opens up all possibility. Currently on view at the Studio Door gallery in Hillcrest.
